Yes, with a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) from the practitioner treating you. Here's how it works.
To use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for a WaterBow, you need an LMN from your treating doctor, physical therapist or other practitioner. It has to be specific to your condition and say the WaterBow supports your treatment, rehab or recovery.
Without an LMN, exercise equipment counts as general fitness, and HSA and FSA funds aren't meant for general fitness. With one, the WaterBow can count as part of your care.
To make step 1 easy, we have prepared a Letter of Medical Necessity form. It has three pages: one for you, the form for your practitioner to fill in and sign, and a page that tells them about the WaterBow.
Download the LMN form (PDF, 3 pages)
Your practitioner can use the form as it is, or write their own letter on their letterhead using the same details.
HSA and FSA money goes in before income tax, so paying with it saves you roughly what you would have paid in tax on that amount. Most people save around 20 to 30% of the price, and it can be up to 50%. The exact amount depends on your own tax situation.
We can't write the LMN, and we can't tell you whether your plan will approve it. That decision belongs to your healthcare provider and your plan. We're working on making this simpler at checkout, and we'll update this page when we have news.
